The first Mughal ruler was Babur. He was the eldest son of Umar Sheikh Mirza. Umar Sheikh Mirza was the governor of Farghana and grandson of Timur. He started ruling over the throne of Farghana in 1494 at the age of twelve and faced the revolt. He conquered Samarkand later, only to lose the state of Fergana soon after. He conquered Kabul in 1504. An insurgent of the Lodhi dynasty Daulat Khan Lodi, invited Babur to defeat Ibrahim in war and become ruler. Babur defeated Ibrahim Lodi at the First Battle of Panipat in 1526 CE and founded the Mughal empire. Babur himself wrote Baburnama, the autobiography of Babur in 1524.
