Savitribai Jyotirao Phule was the first teacher of India. She was an Indian social reformer, educationalist and poet. Her lifespan was from 3 January 1831 to 10 March 1897. Along with her husband, Jyotirao Phule, she played an essential role in improving women's plight in India during British dynasty. In 1848, Phule along with her husband started the first girls' school in Pune ran by native Indians at Bhide Wada. She worked to finish the discrimination and unfair behavior of people based on caste and gender. She is considered as an essential figure of the social reform movement in Maharashtra.
